ASI, now a part of the Progressive Family, Grows and Adjusts Leadership in St. Petersburg, FL
March 28, 2018 – John Auer, President and CEO of American Strategic Insurance Corp. (ASI), is retiring from his management role effective April 1, 2018. Dave Pratt, most recently the Business Leader for Progressive’s Usage Based Insurance Program, Snapshot, is taking over the helm as General Manager.
After building the home insurance company from the ground up 20 years ago, John Auer will remain involved with ASI as the Chairman of the Board of ARX Holding Corp., ASI’s parent company (“ARX”).
Dave Pratt is working with the existing ASI leadership team overseeing the organization’s day-to-day operations and continuing the work for a growing base of home, condo and renter customers as ASI’s operations are increasingly integrated with Progressive.
“This is a great opportunity to keep the growth going that started under John's leadership over the last 20 years and I’m excited to continue working with this talented leadership team,” said Pratt. “One of the reasons ASI and Progressive work so well together is the strength and passion of the people. Everyone really unites under the goal of taking care of our customers. ASI’s strong response after Hurricane Irma was a great example.”
The organization has experienced significant growth in the past year – including a 22% increase in property policies in force at the end of 2017 compared to the prior year end. Pratt says ASI has already hired 40 new employees this year to support home customers and anticipates hiring about 200 more people in St. Petersburg this year to serve additional customers. Progressive also recently released a hiring report that included 1300 new jobs in Tampa.
The Progressive Corporation acquired a controlling interest in ARX in April 2015, and expects ARX to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Progressive Corporation by the end of the second quarter of 2021.
