Progressive Insurance® Employees Making a Difference in Communities Countrywide

MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio, Oct. 21, 2026 – As National Make a Difference Day approaches, Progressive is celebrating the employees, programs, and relationships that are helping create meaningful impact in communities across the country.
“Making a difference starts with people who care,” said Tricia Griffith, Progressive CEO. “Every day, Progressive employees volunteer their time, support important causes, help veterans, strengthen communities, and create opportunities for others to move forward. We're proud to support programs that empower our people to turn their passion into meaningful action."
Driven by the company’s Purpose of helping people move forward and live fully, Progressive employees contribute their time, talents, and resources through a variety of programs designed to support causes that are important to them and address issues such as transportation access, homeownership, housing stability, and digital inclusion.
One of those programs is Volunteer Time Off (VTO), which provides eligible employees with paid time to volunteer with nearly any 501(c)(3). Since its inception in 2024, Progressive employees have volunteered over 297,000 hours of service, and last year, the program piloted group volunteer activities.
For Oklahoma Senior Claims employee Sarah, participating in a group volunteer event reinforced both the impact of the work and the connections formed through service.
“My favorite thing about volunteering is seeing the impact it makes on both sides. On one hand, you see the gratitude and difference it brings to the community. On the other, you see your peers step outside of their normal day-to-day, work together in new ways, and leave feeling proud and energized. It’s rewarding to know that giving a little of our time can create such a ripple effect, strengthening our community and our team at the same time!”
Progressive employees also help drive the success of its Keys to Progress® program. Since 2013, the initiative has provided reliable transportation to more than 1,200 veterans, their families, veteran-focused organizations and veteran-owned small businesses facing transportation challenges, and that impact will continue with this year’s event on November 10 in cities across the country. Progressive employees support the program through recipient sourcing, companywide monetary gifts and thank you cards, event planning, and volunteerism.
"Receiving a vehicle can create life-changing opportunities by helping veterans get to work, attend appointments, support their families, or regain independence. It's difficult not to walk away feeling grateful for what you have and proud of a company that positively impacts people's lives." – Doug, Keys to Progress volunteer and MILNET board member
For recipients, the program's impact extends beyond just getting around town, it can be imperative to their family’s future.
“Receiving this vehicle has been one of the most profound gifts our family has ever experienced. The fear I carry daily—about what will happen to my kids when my wife and I are gone—is deep. My sons have high needs, and my daughter may be the one who takes care of them someday. This vehicle has already brought relief in ways I didn’t expect. It’s going to change our daily lives, our ability to get to appointments, and our peace of mind. More than just transportation, it’s a symbol of stability and hope for my family. I know it will have a lasting impact on our children’s futures.” – said Gideon, 2025 Keys to Progress recipient
In addition to these programs, the company's commitment to caring and supporting a range of community needs includes:
- Name Your Cause® allows employees to recommend donations by The Progressive Insurance Foundation to eligible charities at no cost to them. This program resulted in nearly $5 million donated in 2025 to more than 12,000 charities.
- Open the House® and UpPayment® help increase access to homeownership through education, resources, counseling, and financial assistance. Since launching Open the House, Progressive has committed more than $16 million toward helping individuals and families pursue housing stability and homeownership.
- Support for organizations such as Family Promise and Humble Design help address housing insecurity and homelessness.
- Through PCs for People, Progressive has donated more than 4,000 pieces of computer equipment and helped thousands gain access to technology.
The collective impact of these initiatives recently earned Progressive a spot on the 2026 PEOPLE® 100 Companies That Care list, marking the sixth consecutive year the company has been recognized and moving Progressive up 22 spots to No. 53.
Progressive remains committed to creating opportunities for employees to give back, support the causes they care about, and help build stronger communities across the country on National Make a Difference Day and every day of the year.
